DAY 5 - October 30, 2012 (in Nepal)
Kathmandu - Nagarkot - Sankhu - Kathmandu
One day hike from Kathmandu to Nagarkot and Sankhu. Nagarkot is 32 km east of Kathmandu and is one of the most scenic spots in Bhaktapur district. Nagarkot offers a panoramic view of the valley at an elevation of 2195 meters (app. over 6000 ft). This hike takes about 5 hours walk through the villages of mixed ethnic groups such as Gurung, Newar, and Tamangs.

Sankhu Is a typical Newari town with many fine old buildings and temples. Forests above the village hide an important temple to the tantric goddess, Bajra Jogini. the main structure is 17th century and is 1500 meters above sea level.
